There was an interesting article in the latest "Digital Machinist" Magazine that covered free CAD CAM Software. I downloaded the heekscad discussed and so far find it fairly simple. Anyone else play with this? What do you think? I have been using Bobcad and so far I have gotten to the point that I would rather just type in the Gcode. Bobcad is not working with my way of thinking. But maybe it's just me.

I've been meaning to give Heekscad another try since the last time I looked at it. Did you ever get the training videos for Bobcad? I found they made a big difference since there's really no manual to speak of--well, I think there is now, but it's priced like they print it on gold leaf. I think it's stupid of them as the software is pretty capable once you figure it out, but they make it hard unless you spend more money.
In terms of free CAD, I've used eMachineShop's free CAD program a lot--it's very easy to use for simple stuff, and you can export to DXF. Before I had BobCad, I used CamBam and it worked reasonably well, if a bit clunky at times.
