Something fun to do with a spin index.
I used AutoCAD to figure out the plunge cut points/depth and I marked the mill knee like you guys suggested so I wouldn't lose my place as easily.

I can crank out a 3/4" star in about 30 minutes but I suspect you guys with CNC can beat that!

About 30 seconds with live tooling and the part would be cut off.

Nice, I like the little star at the bottom of the big star. ;)

Neat Mike, was that entirely for fun or do you have some further use for it?

I can do that part in 15 seconds :D

A relapse from "Name That Tune", if any of you guys are old enough to remember that.

I can name that tune in 4 notes....

I think I'd have to spend a lot longer than 30 minutes to figure out how to do it...

I reckon about 6 hours.

Two hours to get the shop up to temperature.
One hour to clean the crap off the bed of the machine.
One hour to find the 4th axis and get it swung up onto the bed
Half hour compulsory break.
Another half hour answering the phone.

Good news is that programming was done whilst waiting for the shop to warm up so that don't count.

Fifteen minutes to remember what I was supposed to be doing ?????????

No scrub that 6 hours isn't enough.......................

Absolutely, it's a fridge magnet.
Mostly I did it to see if I could work the spin index and remember which way to turn the handles without making any mistakes.

Really, I forgot to mention, it's brass plated solid carbide.

Oh, well then 29 seconds.
Just as easy to lie about that as it was the 15 seconds :D
