Just finished my last mod to my 50 ton press. I let a friend use my press for some bearing replacements and noticed how he was struggling to line up the head with his work. The head travels on rollers but it has a pretty heavy preload via four corner springs. Anyway, I looked at the assembly trying to figure a better way to move/control the head. So, based on what I already had as spare parts and other stuff, I crafted this:

I tried to keep it simple and not compromise the tensile capacity of the frame by adding more holes. I am really pleased with how well it works. Wish I had gone with an 8" wheel vs the 6" (ordered from Reid Supply) but feared I might run into clearence issues.
