what kind of oil do you use for you air compressor? I was thinking of royal purple Synfilm Recip. 100.

If its a piston type compressor most any SAE 30 weight will do just fine. You could Google the name and model number to see if you can find a pdf of the manual to see what is recommended.

I use a synthetic Estrolene 30 wt. A friend works for a pipeline company they use Mobile Synthetic but I can't read the lable for the number.

I've used Campbell-Hausfield, Mobil 1 15w-50, and lately, 30wt non-detergent with no apparent difference. It seems that everyone recommends 30wt non-detergent these days so that's probably as good as anything.

BTW, my compressor is a large two stage 80 gallon vertical with a 5 hp motor. It's still running nicelt after nearly 15 years so it must not make much difference as long as it has some oil in it.
