All the talk about the cunning plan for grinding a lathe bed has me itchen to get my South Bend 13 back to use. I would like to send the bed out for grinding and then do all the rest my self. Finding on the net, a machinery rebuilder is not easy. I have only found one so far "Southern Machinery Tool & Rebuilders" in Bradenton FL. They gave me a quote of $1700.00 for 9 surfaces 6' long. Any one know of another rebuilder in Florida, South Ga. I could try?

Thanks

Bill

The is a grinding Co. in Dallas.( check on the PM forum under Monarch section)
The guy said it was going to cost him $600.00 to have a Monarch 10EE ground. They have a 20" bed.

EE's have a bed longer than 20" That's just the distance between centers. They must have more like a 30" or longer actual bed. And,does the bed run under the headstock?

Your right my mistake. The bed measures 40" plus possible another 20" under the headstock.
