The model number will be on the larger ring at the rear . It should say something like 7H and then a serial number.

you need this book http://cgi.ebay.com/Landis-Heat-Treated-Die-Heads-Operator-s-Handbook-/330111286574?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4cdc2a7d2e you may be able to find it cheaper or for free. Do you want to use it ? good luck Ken

That is what we had at the mill where I worked and later picked up on Ebay.
On the working / cutting end there should be 4 chaser holders, with engravings on all 4 chaser holders such as 3/16 - 3/8 NC, or 7/16 - 5/8NF 1/4 pipe, etc. On a complete head there will be a total of 6sets of 4 chaser holders, or 24 chaser holders. What do you have? Did you also get a piece of 1/4" x 3-1/2" long square stock with one end milled down on all 4 surfaces? This is the chaser setting gauge. I have the above booklet, but not worth buying for the 7H head, I can fill you in, but need to know what you have,Ok.

ken thanks for the link,i see he is local.

v-mill the head has 3/16-3/8 stamped on it and no gauge it was more or less
free so i thought i would see about gettin it operational if it does'nt cost to much.

the one i use at work is different(and i forgot to get brand)it just uses different chasers and you set them with the gauge as in 16tpi 13 etc.

how much do you think a couple sets of chasers go for? its not a top priority
but its nice to be able to thread the ends of rods quick and easy!

thanks you guys for the help

If all you have are one set of chaser holders you are restricted to that course or fine range, there are two sets for that size range. There are chaser holders on Ebay now for $199.00

Now the actual chasers (cutters) that the 7H head uses are 3/4" wide x 1-5/8" long when new. They come up on Ebay but not too often in the above size more common is 15/16" wide, they are for a much larger head. As for price of the 3/4" wide sets, I have seen them on Ebay for $25.00 to $65.00 a set.

The setting gauge new is $116.00 + S&H
I can send you a drawing that I made of ours so you could make your own gauge.
