Just found a website - based in FL. Has anyone bought any of their plans and wishes to comment on the V4M, and accuracy ~ or otherwise??

www.poormanspubs.us (http://www.poormanspubs.us)

Stumbled on this one - I was looking for a Pub (as in Public House)!! but it turned this up. Going by the way the guy in the cartoon drawing is leaving the chuck key in place they might have a poor safety record!!

Couldn't resist modifying the cartoon a little:-

I bought one of their books some years ago. The plans were articles from the old Popular Mechanics magazines.

I just sent them a Order today for my Husband. I tried the Pay Pal option but it screwed up so its the Mail service now. I e mailed and immediately got a reply from the gentleman running the site. I found a few neat things that I and my Husband will machine up as soon as possible. Audrey

If you would be so kind, can you let us know what you think to their wares, when they arrive??

G.A Did you finish up making anything from their book?

Nowt like old plans for a new tool!

I have made three of the 1812 Long Tom cannons. Makes a nice model to look at on the desk, etc., and an even more satisfying "BOOM" on New Years Eve and Fourth of July. Wonder what it would be like to scale one up to twice the dimensions on the plans: 1 inch Bore and 18 inches long?

Let me have your mailing address and I will send it to you. Most of what is in it I have in my old PM books.

G.A.Ewen; Just a question. I have been serching for drawings to build a single action fly reel. Any chance you have the drawings in one of your old PM magazines? Been trying for some time now to come up with drawings but no luck. Some one told me they thought they saw them in an old edition of PM.

Have you tried Guy Lautard? There is a reference to fishing reels in one of his Bedside Readers. I can't remember if there are plans in the book or not. I don't have the books myself or I would look.

What's the matter Martin, been kicked out of all the local ones already? That will teach you for buying that shiney new Wholhaupter boring and facing head under me nose ya dorty bugger! BTW, what did you have to pay for it, you might just as well put me out of my misery all at once! You keep doing that and I will be forced to come over there and make you drink American beer for a fortnight, I swear! http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//biggrin.gif

When I was in the US Army I used to drink Extra Old Stock. They actually had it in the Post Exchange and all the other guys drank Bud Piss Water. Extra Old Stock is 6%.

Hey Thrud, don't be sore with me ~ after all I never knew you were after it! It was advertised at 500 notes, but with a little delicate bargaining managed to get it for 425 notes (and better still no Vodka And Tonic [VAT] added on!!!)

The second one came to me from a small place that went bust, I was invited by the landlord of the premises to 'see if there is anything of interest to you - before the scrap merchants come in shovel it up and take all those funny short drills away (he was referring to the slot drills and end mills!). I actually found 2 B&F heads, one was a UPA2 (imperial grads down to 0.0001 on diameter) which had a straight 5/8th shank, and the other was a Japanese 3" B&F head with a #3MT - I'll send you photo's of all.

Never been banned from a pub in my life (but my dog was!!)

G.A. - Email sent ~ Thanks for your kind offer.
