I got a tool from my brother, he found it at Goodwill.

What does it push, or pull?

Maybe try again with imageshack. That still seems to be working.

Never mind, as soon as I said that, photobucket woke up.

that said, I have absolutely no freaking idea what that tool is. Looks a little like a big valve core tool, perhaps for the kind that predate Schrader valves, but it's hard to gauge the scale.

Looks to me like sort of a generic puller. Picture #4 seems to have four fingers to grip from within a hole. Hard to tell due to the shadows in the pictures, but it looks like those fingers fold/retract inward, permitting passage thru the hole, and then the shaft maybe screws in to force the fingers out to grip.

Does it look like a commercial item?

Looks like a minature of a seat puller for a plunger pump.

Do the dogs push out when the knurled knob on the end is turned? If so, I'd give another vote for an internal grab puller.

It looks like the main part of an injector sleeve puller for diesel engines. There should be a sleeve that goes over the threaded area to have clearance to pull the sleeve out.

This is just a guess because it's been a long time since I used one. It is a puller though for sure.

This thing is 16 inches long.
When I pull back on the knurked end, it forces the dogs out, like a bearing puller.

There is a number, 925020 stamped in the collar that turns but no name stamp.

I belive it is an inside bearing/sleeve puller.

If I remember right you used to be able to get different size ends for larger bearings, Insert the tool, pull up the end shaft and lock down the wide bar then put a wrench on it and thread it out to pull the bearing. I think it was used to pull out sleeves in steering shafts.

But then again, I could be slightly incorrect....not usually, but possibly....nahhhh I am right!

Looks like it would work great for pulling valve lifters out of an engine block!
