Just returned from an auction.

Got a nice 9 by 42" variable speed Bridgeport for $2750. Bought a nice 6" Bridgeport swivel vice for $55.

The mill has DRO and is in excellent shape! Whoa! Can't wait for delivery. The ways are near perfect and it is nice and quite when it runs.

It will be sooooo nice to get this thing cutting chips. What a great day!

Congratulations! It really is a good feeling when you pick up a Fine American made tool.

Yes, Gem City is the place. Low turn out of folks and the equipment was in really nice shape. Everything was clean and well oiled and the service department seemed to be well staffed.

Shame they sold off, but I know one guy that will take good care of one of their machines. :-)

Yes, it is good to own a quality American tool.

I bought one too! I wanted what you got (nice ways, DRO and hopefully a power feed). What I ended up with was a little different. It's a J head step pulley model, but has no DRO or powerfeed and there is a bit of a surface rust I'll have to deal with. The good news is that I paid about half what you paid, and unlike most cheap Bridgeports, the ways are in really good shape ion this machine with original scraping marks solidly in evidence all the way across the ways. It also came with a phase converter, a bunch of tooling including a 90 degree adaptor and a couple vises. I got to check it our under power and the head sounds pretty quiet as well. I'm as happy as a clam, even if it does need a little TLC cosmetically. At the price I paid I can afford to pick out my own DRO and can add a power feed. Santa, er....I mean the Rigger is supposed to drop it of a week from today. Yeah!

Merry Christmas to both of us!.

I know how the wait feels, my delta/rockwell lathe is sitting in a storage shed waiting on the weather to clearup so i can go get it.

It wouldn't be so bad but it knows my name and i can hear it calling me in the middle of the night.
