Wonder what my wife will say when I hand over some silver earrings that could be mathematically defined as involute spur, 50 DP x 5 teeth, with countersunk gemstone hub.

Not kidding- they look very nice, really!

pgmrdan,

I take it they're not tool people, but hey, it could of been worse, they could of given you an ugly tie. I would just put the gadget in the trunk of the car and who knows, you may be out on the road sometime and someone may need to borrow it, and if they don't return it, you haven't lost a good tool.

That is almost as rude as giving someone money because you are too damn lazy to think of something to make or get them.

It shows a complete lack of respect for the person receiving it. No thought whatsoever. I would give it back - an equally rude statement... http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//biggrin.gif

The cheesy meter is doing a full cheddar tilt on that one!

Did they even bother to buy the batteries?

I dont know thrud, I love getting money as a gift. I hate gift cards though, they never made sense to me. Instead of giving me 20$, why did they give me a 20$ gift card that I have to use at Best Buy? Damn, atleast with a 20$ bill, I can use it at enco or anywhere else! Best buy dont sell lathe tooling!

Show me the money!!!!I hate clothes, somehow I always get screwed and whind up with a pair of socks that don't fit or a sweater that will hang like a work of art in closet for decades, and WTF does anybody this far south need with a three inch thick sweater anyway?

I have to admit it does look like something a Harvard law grad would call a tool, but you could always trade it for a sweater http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//biggrin.gif

Bill

I gave my best bud cash this year as he has been whining about how slow his video card is (no, it isn't). I built a computer for my oldest nephew and bought gifts for the rest fo the family. Our cats are getting tuna for Christmas Breakfast & Dinner (man, they love the tuna!), and most importantly I get dark turkey meat, smashed tators & gravey...mmmmmm! gravey!

If you drilled a hole in the wall and stuck it in there you would have a place to hang your supply of coat hangers http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//biggrin.gif Do it in a obvious place so maybe the inlaws would get the hint http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//rolleyes.gif

pgmrdan:
Gift suggestions for inlaws when they hand you a list that is very specific - take advantage of it:

200 AOL discs (any garbage can)

Twisted sister CDs from a pawn shop ($4)

Accept featuring "Balls to the Wall" ($2)

Frank's Red Hot Sauce and red plumbers g-string panties ($12)

Slippers - all mismatched (different sizes) - ask for them at store, believe me they have them in the back (free or really cheap)

Leather whip, spurs, & Gimp suit (priceless!)

I'll have you know that I have an AOL collection that goes back to 1.0. All the magazine disks etc. Pretty thick stack. All unopened.

pgmrdan,

I clicked on your original link and now you can have the last laugh. Your in-laws got ripped off for $12 before Christmas. The price has been slashed to $6. Better stock up now for next Christmas!! http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//rolleyes.gif

Dan,

Funny you should mention that. I received a really cool looking wrist watch from an unnamed relative. First, I never wear a watch. Second, the metal band can't be resized to fit my wrist. Third, the extra dials that show the hours in 24 hour mode, the day of the month and the month of the year are all fake and permanently indicate that it is the 4th of March.

Is it permissible to throw it out?

My mother tried to make me eat turkey dressing on christmas. I stared at her and asked how old I was (she got that wrong), then I asked her how many years I have hated stuffing (she got that wrong too) - she tried to tell me that my first christmas I ate stuffing because dad fed it to me, - no way - I spit it all out on dad and I still can't stand that crap to this day. So in addition to the $8,750 my mother owes me for all the times she bet me she could quit smoking, she now owes me a cheezecake with whipped cream too. So I did pretty good for christmas. But she still won't quit smoking - and we still can't con her into going out with the horny old fella next door thats after her. Then I found out my 18 year old nephew is almost bald - jesus i have more hair on my ass than that kid has on his head - and I was quick to offer free transplants, y' know! http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//biggrin.gif His girlfriend, bless her soul, thinks it is "cute". http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//wink.gif

Its kind of fun having a warped family!

Warped family???
I have one brother that helped design the coating for the F117 to absorb microwaves, he is manic-depressive and seems to like it that way (I have the plans, damn, black helicopters are approaching.). Another brother actually does wear foil beanies. Every time I ask him how the schizophrenia is doing he denies knowing what I am talking about. Won't talk about rest of family, this BBS isn't rated for it.

Gotta run..

I couldn't download the picture of the gift on the original post, but you asked what we received for gifts this year.Mother-in-law has been sending me HSM for Christmas and Projects for my Birthday for years. My mother gave me a book on Ben Franklin and a gift certificate to a book store. Now if I can get someone to send me another bookcase I'll be all set. They keep trying to improve my mind but I don't think it is working.

Regards to All, Matt
