I am trying to wire up a new forward reverse switch, my brain is having a real hard time with this one. I hope that one of the great or a couple of the great minds out there might be able to give me a hand. This is the schematic for the switch I am replacing and the new one. I lack enough knowledge of electricity and these kinds of switches to know what is right and wrong.
Thanks in advance.

i connected up 12 volt dc motor to mine ..you can then safely change leads around and get it right.
note the way it works ..
then move on to your ac power.
all the best.markj

You need to have pole of a switch that connects to 1 (and 4), and switchs beween 5 and 2
And another that connects to 3 (and 6) and switchs beween 2 and 5

That is what I figured, the switch's drum as I bought it wouldn't do the job.
I ended up swapping the drum from the old switch into the new switch, now is OK.
Thanks for the advice.
