    Another rant: I'm leaving

It's about time I started a thread in here.
    Okay, I'm outta here!
There isn't anything here that is keeping me from running away.
I'm gone! You won't be seeing me here anymore for some time!

p.s. At least for the next few hours of the Super Bowl.
Check out my location as I now "run" to the TV.

I'll be honest, I hate the packers. I hate all the people running around with green bay jackets, flags, stickers, etc. I hate all the crap in the stores, I hate all of it! I root for any team playing against the packers.

No offense to anyone, it just annoys me.

Are they STILL playing the same season of that funny kind of armored rugger? I thought that season was over last year....

I don't waste my time with watching football.

I have several SciFi shows recorded I can watch tonight.

Or have a whole bunch of fishing shows I can watch also; I find them much more interesting.

Comment on NPR this afternoon: expected time of actual play in the game,
from snap to whistle indicating end of play is in the 11 minute range. Rest
of time goes to organization, huddles etc. Some of this 'inactive' time
                segues to commercials.

Tried to watch for the first few minutes and got bored with the ads that go on forever (expert analysis of each play) replays of each play and once in a while a live play. I don't know what everyone sees in American Handball. Football? the only time they kick it is when they are in trouble. Peter

I thought football season ended three weeks ago when the jets won the super bowl over my Patriots.

Real football, which Americans call soccer for some reason has the largest fan base of any sport world wide, ergo, the most popular game. Peter

... and it's also the game played with the part of the body furthest from the brain.

The Cricket World Cup - the one day version - is starting on the sub-continent in less than a month. Bliss ! And on some radio stations that's 8 hours with no adverts at all - just continual intelligent comment, with a 40 minute break in the middle.

This time, I'm going to install some proper amplification in the shop. Maybe I could fit up a volume control that is sensitive to the power drain.

I don't care for "football", either. 3 or more minutes of big bruisers huddling, 3 to 4 seconds of big bruisers in armor pushing each other around, 3 or more minutes till the next effort.

Even at the High School level, "Footie" has the team on the field, moving, for 45 minutes, solid, 10 minute half, and another 45 minutes of action, then possible overtime.

My g'daughter played Varsity 4 years, and it is amazing how those girls can put 90 all out minutes on the field. We were always short handed, 1 or 2 subs the first 2 years, 3, then 5 for the last 2. We played teams with 25 on the bench.

9:30. Think I'll wait till the paper tomorrow tells me who won. I don't watch much news.

                            Cheers,

                            George

                            Rohart,

Cricket World Cup. How many countries compete in that? A sport I would like to learn more about. Most I've seen of it is the prologue in "Bend It Like Beckham".
