While using my HF Minimill the head dropped about 1/8 in causing a wreck. I smashed the small plastic gear under the motor . Leaving a gash in the new vise I was working on. Does anyone know how to adjust the play in the feed knob so this doesn't happen again when I get the new gear in? I think the gear was a scraficial type object because it is matched with a steel gear on the motor. Thank God for that. I patched the vise up with some JB weld and we're good to go again. Also even though it's HF I ordered the gear from Grizzly because of it being the same machine. Is that true of is it going to come back and bite me by being slightly different size? I figured I would get better service there.
Thanks Boot

The next best thing is to convert to a belt drive and air spring.

Also upgrade the ratcheting head locks. Little Machine Shop sell better ones as an upgrade. Those are 10x better than the original factory supplied ones.

I'm not going to invest in the belt drive right now, but I did just order the air spring kit from Little Machine Shop . That will most wholely solve my problem. Thanks for the advise. Boot
