I went out to Horror Fright to buy the typical cheesy band saw and came home with a cheesy rolling tool cabinet instead.

Maybe the band saw will be in stock next week.

Maybe the point was they were out of stock, so he blew his money on a box instead?:D

Almost impossible to control the urge. But nope, I'm not going to post that.

None whatsoever. :D

But I did need a place to put my tools.

Horizontal. Typical HSM first bandsaw thingy (http://www.harborfreight.com/horizontal-vertical-metal-cutting-bandsaw-93762.html).

Thanks Ken, I have the same coupon in my wallet.

HF was sold out of saws and have no mechanism to special order one for me. They said that I just had to call weekly to see when the new ones arrive.

Good,
I bought a roll around cabinet as well for $199 a couple months back, two weeks later it was further discounted by $30, they refunded the difference with out any hassle or dirty looks, but I could tell she was looking real hard for a reason to deny the refund.

The cabinet I bought was a 3-section roll-around for about $150. Regularly $300. I think it's pretty darn good for the money. The only flaw is that one of one handle's mounting screws has been stripped.

The bottom section has 3 drawers and a large open space that's begging for a plywood shelf.

I really try to avoid HF.

Back of the car magazines had "buy this box for $250 off, only $349.99". I've been hunting for a used Snap On or Matco at a decent price for a few years. Finally gave up and decided to build my one box (about $500 in materials, using skate wheels for drawer rollers).

The was the RED box, 13 drawer one. 7 drawer bolts onto. For $550 ($350 box + $200 for the side cabinet), you are really hard pressed to beat it.

I hate HF stuff, but will admit that tool cabinet is a good one.

[EDIT.... Box was $350 on sale]

The brake you used to make that box is probably worth more than all my tools combined, including my lathe.

Every shop needs a nice brake! :)

I do have a nice 48" box and pan brake, as I'm building an airplane. I went with a JET as I can adjust clamping pressure nicely, and the top has a great 1" setback possible (i.e. make a nose bar... flat plate with a 1" rod at the end, so I get a nice 0.5" radius bend.

For time and material... that $350 box is a heck of a bargain. I really try to avoid the China stuff, but one too many idiots trying to sell a snap on box with the "I paid $7000 for it, it is worth $5000" drove me over the edge. Sigh, I feel sorry for the kids who pay $7000 for a box with "only $75 a week for two years"...
