I was wondering where I could find out more about different aluminum alloys & terminology?

As an example,

Wrought material, 2024 aluminum, temper T4.

Forging, 6151 aluminum, temper T6 .

I would like to understand exactly how these two aluminums differ from each other and what each is suitable for. This is just an example as I know there are other grades of aluminum that would like to understand as well.

Thanks for your help.

"Grade" is not the term you are looking for. Scrap is sold by "grade". The terms you have are Alloy and heat treatment or "condition". Search for "aluminum alloys" and "applications" and that should keep you busy for a while.

For some good thumbnail summaries, go to www.mcmaster.com and type "about aluminum" into the Find box.

But matweb, recommended by JohnnyD, will tell you EVERYTHING....
