I got something around 2800 on the second game but I only mention this to inquire - I maxed out the counterweight mass and height and did quite well with adjustments only to the projectile mass.
Do many of you typically begin working things such as this by attempting to simplify and minimize conditions?

I have noticed this approach gives fair results quickly, but can limit attaining higher levels. As an example, I was invited to golf with a friend years ago. My need to keep things moving prompted me to start by playing about 6 balls at once and I selected a wood that felt about right, which I used exclusively for every shot. My golfing friend thought I was crazy, but much to his confusion, I beat him handily. I do realize that, were I to take the game seriously, I would not likely be able to improve much with my 'system', but it served me well for the couple of times I played and the novelty was enjoyed by all.

I did the same thing. Have you guys looked at the high scores? I think it's rigged. High score was over 120,000

Completed in under a minute and I can't seem to break 3800.

Ya, look for tendencies, regardless what suggestions are (I am not entirely certain, as example, their suggestions are necessarily true to ballistic flight), begin to minimize variables (i.e. make changes to as few as possible once tendencies are "known") and then do it quickly (on some of mine I was picking up more in time bonus points than some scores)

Hmm. I didn't notice there was a time bonus. I was busy doing other stuff as I played it the only time. I'll have to try it again.

2871 on second try. Something like 12XX on the first.

I don't see how 6 digit scores are possible. On my second try I pretty much maxed out the accuracy shots, and the distance were close to max for each one. ...if you go farther you incur a penalty.
