As I've mentioned before, I'm just getting into machining. My dad was a machinist and I inherited a lathe and a pile of tools when he died a few years ago.

One issue I'm having is not knowing what the heck some of these things are (oh, I wish dad was still around). So, I'll posting some photos of things that mystify me ...

Today, however, I need a bit of help with some parts that came with my new ZX45 mill. These things were in the box of parts that came with the lathe, but not mentioned at all in the owner's manual.

I've done some looking around and I believe the one on the lower left is an arbor for a face mill? And the one on the bottom right looks like a Jacobs taper, presumably for a drill chuck?

The upper two, however, have me stumped. It appears the one on the right slides into the one on the left, but that could just be coincidence. Anyhow, what are they?

Clockwise from upper left...

First is an R8 to Morse taper adapter.
Second is a Morse taper reducing sleeve.
Third is an R8 face mill arbor.
And fourth is an R8 to jacobs taper adapter for mounting a drill chuck.

ops - Clockwise it's

My Bad! Had the last two reversed in my mind. Thanks for the catch.

They're garbage. You don't need them.
Send me a Private Message so I can give you my address.
Just mail them to me, and I'll reimburse you for the postage.

Actually, that last one is an R8 to shell end mill adaptor.... almost but not quite same as face mill.

With it should be a thick washer and a screw that threads into the middle of the RH end.
