Where can I find info or directions on converting my old workshop SB to a QC gearbox. I just bought a gearbox and shortened lead screw for mine . I know it envolves drilling some holes in the bed ,but that's all I know. What gears do I connect the box to the spindle? Are there any pictures out there of the conversion. I don't want to make any wrong moves if there is someone out there who has done it and can help me out.
Thanks , Boot

This is the closest information I could find. Lots of SB owners here, so maybe you'll get more hits.

Been there, done that and wrote it up for a South Bend group.

I'll e-mail you a copy

I forgot to mention that I moderate multiple SB groups and this topic has come up a number of times. Problem is I don't remember which groups! They're yahoo groups which have an awful search engine. On the up side, we have a member (Turk) who's knowledge of SB lathes is unquestionable. He even maintains a SB museum at his factory 'Turk's Works".
