View Full Version : clamping large items

I'm trying to repair an overhead door on an 8'wide mobile office trailer. One of the lower corners has been damaged and has caused this roller support to become canted.(it is one connected by cable to the spring-not torsion type) I would like to clamp and pull the canted plate into position and make new bolt holes. I tried using a pipe clamp with extensions(the door is 82" wide)but didn't have enough room to use it. I thought of a belt clamp but don't believe it will have enough pulling power. Has anyone got any ideas how I can clamp this plate?

The door is in place and I am aware of the necessary safety precautions when working with these kinds of doors. Thanks Paul

Clamp a couple of vice grips on the tracks to hold the door in place, then put a ratchet strap on the spring and crank it to take the tension off of the cable. Then you can move the plate easily.
