Did you have any problems getting the pulleys off the stepper motors ?
I removed all the screws on the Z-axis motor but the pulley won't budge and I don't want to screw it up trying to pry it off. Any suggestions ?

Missed a set screw
I got the Z motor off, now I just need x and y :)

I don't remember it being a problem, both iirc had taper locks....this project has dragged so long i can honestly remember the actual act...but i'll have a look if you are still stumped. Been travelling so much during the week progress is at a snail's pace

Yes, I am in the same boat. I got all the parts a year ago and just started the tear down. It's in my unheated garage so not sure how far I will get.
Z is the only one that does not have a taper lock, just a set screw. <<< That I didn't see at first :(
I have no idea how to remove the taper locks on x and y. The motors came out pretty easy. But I do need to remove the taper locks and then mill a bigger key way in the pulleys.
If you remember how you got the taper locks off that would help. I will search the net also or ask on CNC Zone.
Thanks !

Taper locks are a treat to remove, very easy.....there'll be two set screws... and one empty spot for a set screw. The two that are used are what clamps the tamper lock in place, they unused one is to remove it. Loosen the two set screws and then thread one in the unused thread hole, tighten it a bit and the taper is released. The outer shell will come right off and the inner should easily slide off the shaft. The inner could be keyed and set screwed, have a look, I just can remember sitting here the arrangement.

I would just buy some stepped key stock:

So the outer pulley dropped right off using one of the set screws. How does the rest of it come off the shaft of the motor ? It has a slit and what looks like a key way too. Their is no room to get under it to pry up with the other half of the pulley. Do I just pry the slit open a little with a screw driver ? Trying to be cautious here as I need to reuse the pulleys on the new servo motors.
Thanks for the tip on the stepped key way stock. Did not know they made such a thing although it seems like a really useful product :)

if there are no set screws, should just slide. might be stiff from grunge, dried up oil, bit of corrosiuon or even a tight fit on the key if there's a key. Use a puller of you have one or try gently tapping a screw driver into the slot to expand it. shouldn't take much, remove any burrs you create.....but revolve it carefully under light to make sure there's not a set screw first
