Ok, here's my delema.
My boss just bought a used Mazak Quick Turn 8 lathe. Really nice & clean.
It powers up, looks great.
There are 2 issues I've been recruited to "Fix".
#1 - Alarm #23 - Low battery: Where is the battery located? I looked in the back but couldn't find it.
#2 - Hydraulic Chuck: There is a threaded 'tube' extending past the spindle nose aprox 1-5/8". This 'tube' threads into a female 'bearing' that spins freely inside the backside of the chuck. When I thread the chuck onto the tube, there is still a 1/2" gap between the chuck back, and the spindle nose. The chuck does not seat up against the spindle nose flush. What am I missing? Will the six bolts pull the chuck up against the spindle nose?
I'm befuddled..
Any expertese is appreciated.

Probably get a better chance of a response on PM.

You don't have a manual? I would call Mazak up and get one. There may be a special procedure to replace the battery without loosing all the parameters.

Replace the battery in the CPU. You should do it every year.

I can't recall what the quick turn 8 control has, there should be a Mitsubishi number on the processor board or cabinet, if it is a T1, what ever you do, do not remove the battery with the power OFF, as you will lose all parameters etc.
Hopefully you have a back up copy, if not, make one ASAP.
If you have any ***'s showing on the screen, it means the parameters are already corrupt.
If it is a T2 or T3 the battery is on a memory card in a rack slot, the battery can be replaced if you leave the machine powered for a couple of hours and then power down and replace the battery immediately as there is a large capacitor that retains the battery for a period of time to allow battery change.
Max.
