Hi all,
A friend of mine just bought a new Garmin Nuvi 2555LMT. He wants to use it in a motor home and mount it close enough to him so he can see it. The windshield mount puts it too far away to see clearly. He is looking for a remote antenna for the unit. A phone call to Garmin yielded the following information: "Garmin does make a remote antenna for this unit, but it is only available in Europe as they don't get as good GPS reception in Europe as in the US. And it would be too much trouble/expense to send one to a US customer." This is not a direct quote, I am paraphrasing what my buddy told me.
As I have recently purchased a Garmin 1490LMT, which apparently uses the same external antenna, I am hoping to prevail upon one of our European members to check and see if there really is an external antenna for these units available across the pond.
I thought that was kind of an odd position for Garmin to take, but who can tell what goes through their minds.
Thanks,
Tim
