"Well doc,my Dog shot me in the butt":D

"After the man got out of the boat, a dog inside the vessel jumped up on the bow and stepped on the gun. The gun fired and shot the man in the buttocks."

See what happens when you give a loaded AK-47 to a chimp.

Safety? What's a safety?

Well that's more than dumb. If he was squirrel hunting and was baiting them with nuts it sure shouldn't have been his own.

That was bloody brilliant, leaving a loaded shotgun propped-up in your boat

"It is believed that the squirrel was not harmed in the incident."

That's even funnier! WTF?! You can't just grab a squirrel off your leg, you try to shoot him (on your leg) with a rifle??!

Natural selection doesn't work anymore...

That's Fox's ad campaign for the new Planet of the Apes movie. There's a companion video with a chimp with a machete.

For those of you that hunt ducks and don't get shot by your dog, the central flyway is full of ducks coming down from Southern Canada and Northerm Wisc.Minn.and Mich.
I haven't seen Sandhill Cranes come down this late before. Also Richardsons Race are more plentiful this year than I've ever seen them.

While I don't doubt that someone would be dumb enough to try to shoot a squirrel off his leg, I do suspect that the dog was an innocent bystander in the other occurence, it is a bit too convenient and is probably a coverup.

The chimp vid is an obvious fake.

I think the dog was getting even with the guy for making him jump into the cold water.

Re: Embarassing:

Back a few years ago the local priest in the area who was a big hunter, showed up at my friends body shop driving his ford Bronco.

The passenger side door had a big jagged hole blew out through it.

He'd got in with his dog , dog stepped on the shotgun that was lying on the passenger seat, and "KABOOOMMM!:D :D

Fortunatley no one was hurt but he was pretty embarassed and wanted to get it fixed ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

The chimp vid is an obvious fake.

What makes it obvious? I bet it cost at least 100k for the computer graphics.

macona

What computer graphics? A little smoke?

Fake because there is no dirt flying everywhere from the rounds hitting the ground, no casings, and no recoil.

There is dirt being splashed up and the .224 has very little recoil but it does show recoil. Shell casings? Well, it isn't high def and the shells are small.

AK-47s are 7.62mm x 39 (30 Caliber) Having fired SKS's, which use the same cartridge, I can say they do have more than very little recoil.

I shoot .224 in my AR-16 ;)

Plus, it's a well-known movie trailer for the Planet of the Apes remake :)

Here's the official Fox trailer. 17 million views since July 6 -- impressive!

The Chinese made millions of .224 AK-47s.

Are we sure that is not Dick Cheney's dog?

I put .223 Ammo in my AR-15

Evan

The early model M-16 was introduced in the late 60s. When I trained on it during the Vietnam conflict we were told that the Chinese had rebarreled the AK-47 to .224. The early M-16 was famous for jamming and by using .224 caliber it meant that the AK could fire .223 ammo picked up in a fight but the M-16 would jam for sure if you tried to use AK ammo.

Incidentally, the recoil on the M-16 is almost nonexistant.

I cant find any reference to a .224 AK, there is a .223 AK that uses the standard NATO 5.56 that the M16/AR15 uses, but those were only made for civilian use. WP says China uses the Type 56 variant of the AK which is 7.62x39.

Yes they did. They did a good job of it too. They made many others as well, not just the machete video. It's called viral advertising.

The Spec Ops boys also have a variant of the M-4 that takes AK mags and shoots the 7.62x39. Grab ammo off the bad guy and save it for a later day. The gun almost feels the same and everything is where it should be. Months down the road you can do an op and not leave any US trace.

Depends on barrel length and weight.

I believe it. Stories abound of legendary "Old Blue" and of his exploits. This Old Blue must have been smart enough to push off the safety with one paw and pull/press the trigger with the other. Either that or the idiot he was hunting with leaves a loaded gun un-attended with the safety off.

Your friend the priest probably wanted it fixed right away because it's illegal to carry a loaded firearm in a vehicle during hunting season in most all states.

Look for the Russian AK 74. It uses 5.4539mm. It is actually .221.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AK-74

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5.45%C3%9739mm

China actually uses its own totally different cartridge 5.8x42mm.

Stupidity must be more common, Where I used to work they talked about an old millright who always carried a groundhog gun loaded in his truck. He liked to shoot out the window, pulled the gun towards himself pointed at his stomach and the trigger caught on something and he took one. At least that would be about the quickest way to go.

Amusing though, when you compare the ballistics:

5.56x45 mm NATO
63 gr bullet at 3100 fps 1300 ft-lbs

5.8x42 mm DBP87
64 gr bullet at 3100 fps 1300 ft-lbs
