Got a new Haas VF1 at work. 10,000 rpm 20hp spindle, rigid tap, tool setter and probing. Ooo.. Shiny. Too bad I won't get to play with it. I am getting rolled off the 22nd :(

OH well, the all important tool porn.

Nice mill.
It looks just as clean and shiny as the HAAS mill sitting in the background, never running, on that American Chopper show. :D

Nice, My boss picked up a used VF3 a couple months ago at auction. currently waiting on an addition to be built so we can hook it up and start making chips. Pretty crammed in here at the moment, and we REALLY need the extra machine (already have a VF6 and a Yang VMC). I can't wait to "play" with it

Glad to see they bought an American made machine tool. However, "rolled off the 22nd"????????????????????

How can they justify buying a new machine and laying off at the same time?

Simple... money...

production is slowing down and im the first to go. They have someone else thats going to run the machine.

Merry Xmas to me...

Sorry to hear about the lay-off Macona. I hope you find something soon to replace it.

Layoff before end of year has some benefits to the company (yearly insurance, pension calculations, etc) , but it sure stinks.

Yep, but that's the movie business. It looks like I am not the only one to go either.

Any possibility of being called back when things pick up?

Is that a bucket of DampRid that was shipped with the machine? Super absorbant stuff, I suppose you could leave them a little Xmas cheer in it.

Thats what I am hoping. They are starting on the next movie so if everything goes well Ill be back. But I think that may be at least 6 months.
