I found this whilst rummaging in a box of parts. Looks like a nifty little toolpost for a smaller lathe with a handy height-setting. Doesn't look shop-made, but there are no markings on it.

Anyone seen anythng like this before?

Likely a toolholder for a turret lathe or screw machine. Looks similar to the toolholders for the Hardinge DV59.

It's a Hardinge, I have one exactly like it that came off of an HLV-H.

My thought too. Only mine didn't have the handy lockdown handle.

It doesn't look like the tool post on my HLVH. A simpler design, apparently. Mine has a dovetail for holding drop on tool holders. They wanted $275.00 EACH for those silly little tool holders,so I set up the mill.and milled a long piece of steel with a dovetail. Then, cut them off like slices of bread. Another groove for the tool, several holes tapped for the set screws, and I think I made about 20. Shared them with my journeyman,Jon,for his HLV. The original 1 I had from Hardinge wasn't even hardened. Just blackened.
