    i hope this doesnt sound to hokkey....but is it possible to turn ID of semi hard rubber tubbing..........just askin......Larry

    Somewhere I read that they centerless-grind rubber rollers by first freezing the rubber (dry ice?) until it's hard. Might be a clue there....

      I was gonna ask a similar question about machining a counter sink for a bolt/washer in a hockey puck on a lathe..I can do it with my drill press but would probably get better results on my lathe..The part i wasnt unsure of was whether the material being a rubber would grab too hard on the tool/tool holder..Flexing may be more problematic with turning your tubing..

        Just depends......sharp tooling, hardness of rubber, workholding, etc, etc.

        Freezing does help. Grinding can be better, if the work allows.

          I would slip the tubing over steel(mandrel) then freeze it and machine with very sharp tooling.
