There was a recent thread from someone who made a cutoff stop for a horizontal bandsaw. I thought it looked quite useful and I would get back to it. Now I can't find it.

Help pleeeeese

?..."bandsaw" is pretty tough, there are a ton of threads with that as either the topic or mentioned in related posts...if you have a name and an approximate date, that could be the quicker route

A handy general trick for this kind of thing is to use google instead of the forum search capabilities, which often give useless results.

Try this search in Google: (link (https://www.google.com/search?q=site:http%3A%2F%2Fbbs.homeshopmachinist.n et+cutoff+stop+for+a+horizontal+bandsaw&pbx=1&oq=site:http%3A%2F%2Fbbs.homeshopmachinist.net+cut off+stop+for+a+horizontal+bandsaw&))

or cut/paste:

"site:http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net cutoff stop for a horizontal bandsaw"

Unless it's a recent item, Google will know about it. I've been to sites where I've posted a question, then gone off to do more searching while waiting for an answer, and had my question show up in the Google search. Sometimes Google can be scary-fast.

This might work a little better. This forums search function is.... Broken, At best.

Use google and site:bbs.homeshopmachinist.net

This is not the one I am looking for. The one I am looking for has a link to some short videos and was posted withing the last week or so. I tried the google search and it didn't show up there (that I found anyway).

Oh well, I'll keep looking, it was pretty clever. It may have been included in a machine restoration thread.

I don't believe he mentioned the stop in his thread, but it features prominently
in the video and stills that he provided links to.

Like you, I too remembered the Cutoff Stop.

However, with it not being spoken about in the the thread by either the
OP or any of the contributors, the stop probably proved to be a bit of a
red herring.

Can't fault the Forum's Advanced Search for failing to find was isn't there.

The search functions in the forums (not just this forum) are very basic/rudimentary. Google is good at what it does because it spends tons of $$ developing proprietary search algorithms. Of course, if it ain't there in the first place....!
