Finished two cannons. One for a Christmas present for the son, the other for me so we could have some competition.

Thanks for the kind comments.
As you can tell my son sometimes forgets what a powder measure is used for.
This is one case where over kill on the build was a good thing.
I was shooting 100 grains of Pyrodex ffg powder. That stuff leaves a nasty mess when it comes time to clean them up.
Does anybody know a powder that burns a bit cleaner with less residue?
Back 25 years ago when I had a a black powder rifle and pistol, I used real black powder ( really hard to find now) It seamed to be cleaner burning than these substitutes. I loved the big sulfur smoke clouds too.
Thanks
Ted

Golf balls are fun projectiles. I made a pneumatic golf ball launcher for backyard use using a 3/4" irrigation valve and accumulator tank.
It maybe nothing to worry about, but will the heat from a powder launched golf ball make the covering stick in the barrel?

Make your own black powder.
Legal in most jurisdictions in the USA, as far as the federal government is concerned. Know your local laws. I won't serve your jail time.
Cheap.
Safe if you take reasonable precautions.
Lots of how-to info out there. Start here:
