I'm thinking about making a drawbar wrench with a brass end from an el-cheapo import long 3/4" impact (so-called) socket.
Doesn't seem hardened at all and machines quite nicely. Now I'm wondering the best way to attach a handle through the side of the socket.
I thought about using a roll pin, and then I thought about using my O/A torch and trying out some brazing rod I've been wanting to experiment with?
Would I need to remove the black coating on the socket before attempting this?
Should I be using silver solder or brazing rod?
The handle will just be some 1/2" 1018 steel that I put a knurled end on.
Thought I should get some input before wrecking what I've already got done on the socket and brass end...
