My Mothers Rainbow sweeper plastic latch broke completely off I machined a new one works great.

Nice job DVK! A great job of fitting too. It's amazing how many things around the home can be repaired with some effort and the right tools.

The duct tape probably is to hide the dent from kicking it when the plastic latch broke. http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//biggrin.gif

Nice job! Is that the first thing to repair? Just curious, cause my wife got a Rainbow as well.

Yeh, that's the first thing that needed repair majorly, but the sweeper is about 20 years old, lots of use, my Dad had to replace another belt, for the vacume floor spinner thing with a brush, that spins, and cleans rugs, but other than that very good sweeper.
