A few months ago there was some post's on this forum with people having the exact same ultra slow load times for the Practical Machinist forum I was. And yeah there's been some mention by various people far more computer intelligent than myself about a fix for that. I should have paid attention.

In my case I was having at least 90 second load times for the site, Switching between forums and threads, Even loading a new page for the same thread. So for anybody else having to endure all that? Download Firefox and their additional Addblock program. It was an unbelievable difference. It's now 3-5 second load times.

For anyone and everyone who has ever mention that Addblock program here, I thank you, And have mentally kicked my own butt multiple times for not paying attention a long time ago.

Using some minimum logic, It seems pointless for forums to be running adds if everybody but myself was and is running some type of add block program.

Once you block google aids, you get the same proformance out of any browser. 99% of the evil, slow, bogging to hell scripts are google.

I am convinced google has designed aidswords and analytics to be as slow and bloated as can be on anything thats not 'googles browser' (ie chrome)

All I see is the gif ads hosted here. Thinking of canning flash at all but 'trusted sites' (youtube and............. uhhh.. I guess that internet radio station would be the only sites that need to be on that list)

"var gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? "https://ssl." : "http://www.");
document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + gaJsHost + "google-analytics.com/ga.js' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E"));
(Found in HSM source)

I had the same slowness and hangup problem.

But as soon as the software was upgraded, as much as I dislike the "safe nursery pastel" color scheme, the speed has been considerably faster there than here.

I DO NOT use adblockers.

Me either. I tried Adblocker for a month and decided it wasn't worth it. Too many web sites get their images misinterpreted and blocked.

I also don't have a speed problem on PM.
