Is it my understanding that Ettco, Procunier tap head shanks are none removable?
I need a 3/4 shank and the 3E or 3B are ones that have it. I dont need that large. Looking for 10- 1/2, 1/4-1/2, which is the 2E, 2B, but have MT shanks or 1/2.
Plus at $350 used, no refund, usually w/ no collets.
Then theres new Enco head w/ my 20% at $314.
and finally some Chi clone at $175.

I have no experience w/ these or actually seen one. I have 64 holes to tap and get these projects about 6x a yr.

Any experience w/ Enco or a Chi clone?

Who has the Chi clone?

My Enco T/H is made in India and looks well made although I haven't used it yet. I think the Chinese clone he is referring to is from Grizzly although I don't see one on their site at the moment.

I took apart my Procunier 1E head that had a funky "lug" drive and made a new adapter with a 3/4" straight shank. Worked out fine. I have a 2E that I plan to do the same to, but this time I may go with a 1/2" shank.

Look into "Tapmatic" brand units.
