I've got an older Sears Roebuck twin cylinder 110 / 220 air compressor. It had been working quite nicely until it burst the rubber hose a few days ago. I wasn't in ther shop when it happened, just heard it running and running one day as I walked by the shop. Went in to investigate and the air was thick with (presumably) air compressor oil). I don't know how long it had been running but it was HOT, so it may have been running non-stop for hours.
I repaired the hose and changed the oil in the compressor. Oil was about half way down and dark grey, replaced it W/ new 30 WT mineral oil.
It started up and worked, cycling as it should but didn't seem to build pressure as fast as it used to.
A few days later, walking past the shop, heard it running non-stop again. Now it won't build pressure past about 50 PSI.
I'm thinking it maybe wore the rings out from running so long ??
I kind of like the old girl, she was quiet (relatively) and built up pressure quickly, (past tense).
Any place in Canada (preferably Western) that would sell rings for older compressors like this ?
