Why differend saw blades cut different materials?

..why do you need different band saw blades to cut different materials? Specially metal cutting.

There are different materials the blade is made from as well as different geometries. For example Amada has their mvglb which has a less hard and more forgiving tooth. Or SVGLB which is their M-42 tooth or magnum Hi-Lo which is harder. Also they have a protector blade which has a tough tooth design that can take some abuse but needs a heavy feed pressure to work. Then the chipbreaker which as the name suggests breaks the chip so you can feed it faster for production cutting. No one blade covers it all when it comes to serious metal cutting.

Also, the softer materials (aluminium, magnesium, copper etc.) need a coarser tooth to give better chip clearance, and there's the rule of three - three teeth engaged in the cut, which prevents broken teeth due to the intermittent load while cutting - so for thin materials you need a finer tooth pitch than (e.g.) cutting a piece of 2"x2" bar.

Thanks for that 'rule of three'. I knew that thinner material need higher TPI, but never knew how to find the number.

I got this pic from an online blade supplier. It is citing and example of following the three tooth rule.
BTW, thanks for all your replies.
