The original Jacobs chuck on my Atlas finally got me searching for a replacement... google takes me to a post on this forum recommending them highly. I go to their site, notice the Black Friday link and click on it... scroll down and MT2-DC500 is on sale. My... that looks purdy too:

Bob, I am going to bet that you are as pleased as I was with the R8 version that I got from them several years ago. They are a class act.

Yeah I bought 2 R-8s and a MT 3 a couple of years ago from them. While any company can produce crap if they really desire to do so, mine are great. I haven't had a reason to pull any of them apart yet so I just don't know how well the internals are done. But they operate just as well as and the accuracy is very comparable to my Albrecht at less than 1/2 the costs. Almost 1/3rd less if you use the standard normal price for the integral shank Albrecht's. I also have a matched pair of their 615 milling vises. I've been really happy with both Glacern's service and products. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again. I just hope Glacern doesn't get so big they totally screw up what's working for them right now like so many companies seem to do today. Jacobs would be only one of many that managed to do that.

But speaking of Jacobs chucks and the fact that Glacern so far doesn't offer any keyed type chuck. I happened to notice a few days ago that Penn Tools in New Jersey are now selling what are heavily advertized as "keyed drill chucks by the company who once built Jacobs chucks in the U.S." What the exact quality and accuracies are I have no idea yet. But it would be nice to have another high quality, dependable, and accurate keyed drill chuck manufacturer around. I'd be real interested in anyone's thoughts about these chucks if they've bought one recently.

Never having bought any of GMT's tools, I can't talk about their quality, but the advertising photos in their ads are just plain ol' TOOL PORN! :D (Great job, GMT!)
