I'm looking for online videos on machine shop basics. The 10 part MIT TechTV Machine Shop videos are excellent. Is there anything else out there similar in scope to this series??

How about Tubal Cain's series on YouTube? There must be over 100 of them by now.

Here is the main page for them:

Agreed.

I highly recommend Darrell Holland's "Professional Machine Shop Course". I've watch the lathe and mill series and both were excellent in my opinion.

They are only at an introductory level, but as far as they go, they are excellent:

interesting on the rook video the use a band saw to "part off" the part , remove from machine saw off and recheck

why not part off ?

Who knows where the part might land after part off. It is aluminum with a lot of easy to dent spots.

I'm about half way thru his series. The time and effort Tubal put into this series is amazing. This is exactly the type of stuff I love to watch!!
