I have a lathe that shows a slight twist in the ways when sitting on the floor. The twist is about 1-2 divisions on my precision level.

Should/could I install the lathe with bolts into anchors in the concrete floor and adjust the slight twist out?

Thanks,

JC

yes. you dont necessarily have to bolt it down, though. main thing is that it cuts traight (no taper).

I would make some leveling plates say 1/2" thick 4" x 4" square or a round 4" diam. with a spot faced hole in the centr of the plate 1/8" deep for the leveling screw to set on, and no need to anchor it, just adjust the twist out. Another tip is to set the level on the cross slide and shim it level to the earth and then crank the saddle up and down the bed and watch the bubble. No need to lift the level from end to end of the bed. It also follows the tool path.
