View Full Version : Is a 'B-Taper' common in "your" part of the world ?

Want to make a few things which require drill chucks, Grizzle has some cheap-o's (0 - 1/2 capacity) for alittle under $4 but the taper is a B16. Being i will also be making the arbors, i could care less about the taper and if 5 years down the line one brakes and all the B16's vanish or price goes crazy, then so be it - make a new JT arbor.

Anyway, never hear of this taper till now...
Just wondering if the B-Taper is common in different parts of the world ?

Just about any drill press in here and the countries around me has a B-series taper. B16 is the most common I have seen, but it mainly depends on the size of the machine/chuck. Don't remember what DIN or ISO standard they were defined in.

Here in Germany the B16 is very common. I also don't remember what the DIN# is either. All of my Albrecht drill chucks have B16.
