I retired privately a while back but yes 55 60 early retirement or officially 65 is the norm. Alistair

WE don't play it at all in Scotland as you suggest .I am ashamed to say I don't have a clue how it's scored or played at all despite today reaching 62 I have never learned it at all. Alistair

I do sympathise that you have not managed to absorb the rudimentaries of cricket.
But if you keep trying, then within another 62 years or so you may grasp them,
If you want to veg out for a day , then cricket is the way to go!

Btw we do play cricket in Scotland.Only last week Pakistan beat us at the Grange in Edinburgh.
It`s rumoured the game was invented here for women to play but England stole it.
