View Full Version : grizzy 3617 milling machine coolant tank

So any ideas about cleaning it out, its got some gunk in it or what can I put in there to get it out. It has one hole to put the coolant in and the other is the pump, the only way in to the tank.

Take it outside, put on your grungies, maybe a rain suit and use a pressure washer.

Oh yeah, clothespin for the nose. :eek:

Hi Brett,
I have a HM52 which is the same machine and agree it's a total pain to clean. I drilled out the plug and put a ball tap on it as the standard plug is above the bottom of the tank and to small. I used to also use a fish pond pump to pump it out as I pored buckets in the other side, but it's a terrible system to clean and takes hours.

Below is how I fixed my tank, and thats not using it at all. It's so much better now with an external tank under the mill.
You can see the ball tap in picture 8 which I recommend you do for now.

I also have done a heap of mods like installing a top taper bearing, extending the Y axis, mounting a DRO scale to the front of the table, etc if your interested I can give you the links.
