View Full Version : help ID this old grinder?

So I picked up this old 10" 1hp bench grinder. Its nameplate says it was made by Dayton. Fine, Dayton used to make quality bench grinders back in the day before they became Grainger's house brand. Only thing is, when I take off the wheel covers, there is this lowercase 'r' letter that really reminds me of the way Rockwell used to make theirs.

Is it possible that this grinder was in fact made by Rockwell?

It looks like a good heavy duty grinder. I don't think that's an "R" though. As I recall the Rockwell "R" was like a lower case typewritten letter with a ball at the right side of the arm part.

Glad to see you got some new wheels on it...
You should post a picture of the ones it came with, just for the "don't do it like this" factor!
