Anyone have experience with the counter rotating saws? Lowes had one on sale for $99, reg $199, called the destroyer. I'm not sure what I want to destroy, but it seems like a bargain. Part of me says I need it, but why? Bob.

They were the hot item a few years ago but I couldn't think of a use for it so had no interest. Harbor Freight has their $120 twin blade on sale for $49. I still can't think of use for it. Could be why the bottom fell out on the price--No body else could either.

The only review on Lowes website says it's junk, and it's no longer available.

Waste of money, Burned up the first time I used it. Cutting a piece of 3/4 board. This tool is very big and bulky for it size.
Cons Low quality, Not durable"

I saw no need for one either, friend bought one, real noisy, threw hot metal shavings all over, pricey blades etc, i think lots where bought, tried, then left on a shelf.
Bad investment in my opinion.

I have the one sold by Sears. Never really found a good use for it. While it will literally saw through just about anything (think car roofs, etc.) hearing protection is a must. You also need to keep feeding it blade lubricant sticks (wax) to prevent the counter rotating blades from eating each other. But by far the biggest flaw is its lack of any type of shoe or guide - just a retractable plastic blade guard. Since it allegedly doesn't kick back, I guess it was felt that it didn't need one so virtually every cut is a plunge cut. Frankly, the thing scares me and has been relegated to a dark corner. For every use I think of for it, there are several much better alternatives.

Well, I think that response answers my question. Thank for the input, will save my C note for another toy. Bob.

I just got an email coupon for this tool at $50 price. It looks like an awesome tool but the reader reviews are very mixed. I might take a close look at it when I go to HF. Here is the current listing:

Q? What job can it do better than a 5" angle grinder
with a 1/16" thin abrasive wheel??
Nothing I would say. Gimmick all the way.

Agree with Doozer, just a novelty thing. A couple i know bought them, they're sittin on a shelf collecting dust. (I don't see them on display in the stores much now.)
