It's a question, not a pictorial. Before cnc came along, tapered rollers were being produced, and races also. Wondering whether these were made on specific machines, like Monarch, Pacemaker, Hardinge, etc, or were machines specifically made to produce these parts? If a factory was to select a brand and model, then set it up exclusively to make one part, that would be one thing. Another thing would be to produce the machine exclusively to make a few certain parts and nothing else. Just wondering what the specs would be on such machines. Obviously, rolling elements and races were produced to very tight tolerances even a hundred years ago, or nearly so at least.
These days, close-tolerance parts can be made on automated, and very expensive machinery, and I'm not wondering about that. I'm interested in how they made them, and on what equipment, all those decades ago.
