I'm needing to get some pillow blocks and have seen the standard one with set screws as part of the whole block. Then there are these

That have a separate collar. What is the purpose of this separate collar? My application will not have any speed involved. It will allow me to tilt a table top 90degrees.

Thanks for the help.

The collar is an eccentric that locks/tightens up on the shaft so the shaft turns with the bearing.

The collar is just a free bee I guess.
Some bearings use an eccentric locking
collar to fix the bearing to the shaft.
This is not one of those.
I see nothing special.

I updated my profile. I'm located in Denver.

The collar looked out of place since the eccentric setups look quite different. I am looking for 1" pillow blocks and need about 4 of them.

Thanks for clearing that this is just a useless collar with a setscrew.

I've used pillow blocks that have an eccentric collar that can be rotated to jam the shaft in the bearing to insure that the shaft and inner race turn as one.

I have seen those but they are pricier that the standard ones.

While this ad contains the information that this is an "import product", meaning China-made most likely, I don't like the fact that the company name begins with "USA" in big red caps. Not saying that China-made automatically means bad, just don't like what looks to me like an attempt at deception.
