I have an 8 by 12 lathe with a quick change tool post and one of the holders is for a parting blade but I cannot find a source for them. I'm looking for the straight blade type, about 1/2" wide by 1/16" thick by 3-4" long. Anyone know where I might find these?
Thanks up front and take care guys! Michael

Any of the suppliers like Enco would carry them. I hated parting off until I made a rear mount tool holder. Now it is no sweat.

I use the same type. MSC (www.mscdirect.com) has a good selection.

I suggest modifing your holder slightly, so as to accept the P style, T-shaped blades. A P-1 in your case, Enco #397-7600 (cobalt), $11.57.

I also like the t-type blades as they leave a fine finish. But they must be on center and ran slowly as all parting tools. Any good supplier will cary them. MSC and Enco both have them on line. Good Luck!

Thanks Guys!!
I guess I just don't kow what to look for. I go to MSC's web site all the time. I'm a knife maker and I buy all my taps and drill bits and such from them. Thanks for the part numbers, that will help a lot! It aint fun cutting things off with a hacksaw even on a lathe, lol.
