Starrett 161d parallel clamp
I am in need of the screw retainer clip for a Starrett 161d parallel clamp. Seems like from photos that the clamps have been redesigned and there is a captive retaining ring that lives in a notch on the inside of the parallel.

Are these available anywhere? Thanks for the help.

Give Starrett a call, nothing to lose.

The spring clip has a step in it. The lowest flat screws to the outside of the parallel then with the 290 degree bends, it zigs towards the slot in the knurled knob on the handle so the it cannot screw outward.

What type of material is the type of spring steel clip made of? Haven't miked it but it it thin material.

Thanks for the help.

Here is the Starrett parts catalog. It lists the 161D clamp, you will need to download their software to open the catalog. They do generally support their products with repair parts.

Starrett ought to have them...and probably also be the only source. Starrett uses weird and wonderful thread pitches and diameters that nobody else has ever heard of. For instance, the screws in their adjustable parallels are #3-52, if memory serves. I have never seen either a tap or die of that size, anywhere.
