I was cleaning out some boxes of assorted tools/tooling and came across this Goodell Pratt Whazzit.
I searched the Google patent database and came up empty.

Anyone recognize this one?

It looks like a valve spring compressor. I found on a Google search several valve lapping tools made by them

Not a valve spring compressor. It's an expander or spreader of some sort.

Threading the screw in pushes the center piece toward the jaws and the two pins force the jaws to spread apart.

Valve spring compressor for an L-head engine.
