Saw an ad on CL last week for a South Bend shaper for a whopping $200. From the pics, it looked like it could be decent, a couple of replacement pulleys, no cabinet or accessories or guards listed in the ad or pics.
Pics from the ad:

So I sent the guy a message and told him I would buy it if I could send him $100 Paypal and $100 when I pick it up on Friday (4 hour drive). And he agrees.

So, yesterday I made the drive around Lake MI to the NW Chicago suburbs and picked it up. Found out that the guards were there, pristine cabinet also included, as were toolholders and tooling. Today this is how she is looking (still trying to figure how to hook the power back up):

Now then lets be fair. $100 non refundable deposit, $100 cash, and say $200 to $250 for food and gas on the 8 hr drive. $400 to $450 and the lowest I have ever seen a SB shaper in this neck of the woods was north of $950. OK 2nd the you shuck :)

Ahem, sorry but I don't see any pictures, a qualifier for a "you suck"...:o...as often the case, location makes all the difference.

Dang, where do you eat? 4 sliders w/cheese for brunch, $5 for dinner at KFC, a few drinks ... I spent more on freaking toll roads than food, LOL. I probably burned $75 in gas.

Not sure, there are 3 pics in the original post.

No pics, you gotta be logged in at the site you hot-linked them from to see them. You could try putting them in your album here then adding to the post, then they would be visible to all on HSM.

Ah that must have been the issue. I just switched the pics to a different host.

And to make us feel even worse it looks like the late version with the widened front base and one-shot lubrication.

Oh, why yes it is. I could only post 4 pics, so you can't see the couple with the original wrenches, tool holders and the couple dozen internal keyway tool bits. :p

The only non original part I have found is the on/off switch. That replacement switch is an Allen Bradley switch with thermal overload ... not just a light switch. The previous owner was meticulous ... looking at the new switch cover he made to accommodate the AB switch, you'd think it was original.

That is quite a catch! ;)

I don't suppose you would consider going halves in the shipping and sending it to me?
