Bronwen,
Was it A-fib or V-fib that he is suffering from. I suffer from A-fib and it is no big deal, just inconvenient. My sister in law had a V-fib bout in class (teacher) and fell over dead. Luckily she was in a building full of people that knew CPR. She ended up with an endogenous defibrilator in case it happens again. It has gone off a couple of times in the last few years. I think she is due for a battery change soon.
Best wishes to Alistair

Bronwyn, send the best to your husband. He is well respected and would be missed here. Do make sure to take care of yourself too while he's going through his thing. You'll be able to help him most if you're well rested and fed even through it's hard to eat or sleep when you're worried about a loved one who's in distress. Alastair is an important part of our community here and I'm sure most of the folks here would chip in to help if there is any way we can. We're here for you and Alastair if you need us, just let us know what we can do to help.

Get well soon from Newfoundland. By the way, for the heart we use seal oil pills. If that don't start it in the morning we wait a couple of hours and then take cod oil pills. Guaranteed to regulate just about anything.

Remove all pictures of old machines in need of rebuilding. Alistair probably saw something on Ebay that made him apoplectic.
