Looks like most lathe work. In my 16 years of machining I have done very little turning that projects greater than six inches beyond the chuck. I have turned only two things greater than twelve inches from the face plate, (drive plate to some). At least he is making use of, though not properly, the remaining bed length. Thanks for posting the old photos, I enjoy them and try to imagine what it must have been like to work in that era.

Seeing all of these photos has been a real pleasure.
Howd you figure one would go about getting some large enough to hang up in the shop? Is there a mueseum out there that sells them??

Some photo collections do offer prints for sale. When I started collecting these pictures I didn't document where most of them came from. I think the photo I posted above came from the Library of Congress and I don't think they offer prints for sale.( I could be wrong)
